As we all know, it is best not to discuss politics or religion while having cocktails, which perhaps applies equally to Thanksgiving dinner. In the case of politics, today is simply hard to have a reasonable debate. So, how about asking if for example religion influence us how we choose our politics and if this makes us wiser or better?
How do you interact with someone who is needy?
When do you hire a perfectionist?
If you want not just a job well done but best-in-class then you hire a perfectionist. If you decide to cut corners in not paying more for high quality work then you will get what you pay for and you will not be fully satisfied. So, when you want the best then you need to hire a perfectionist. Do you agree?
How do you work with an opportunist?
Being an opportunist can be either good or bad like the horseshoe theory – it can’t be both at the same time. On the good side, an opportunity is seized and it is realized to its fullest potential while on the bad side an opportunist sees others as a means to end and uses people to get what they want. The opportunist will ignore you once you are no longer of use to them so how do you work with an opportunist?
How do you remember the 9/11 attacks?
A horrific event such as the 9/11 attacks draws emotions such as being mad, sad and being scared at the same time. The reaction to seeing for example the twin towers coming down in New York are one of disbelief and disgust but the antidote to all this is effective leadership. So, what leadership life lesson did you take away from the 9/11 attacks?
How good are you at public speaking?
Do you have a memorable book?
There are some books that influence us to look at life from a drastically different perspective. For me, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl is the book, which speaks to human courage during the atrocities of the Nazis and the Gestapo during the Second World War. So, do you have a book that has been a difference-maker in your life?
Again, why customer service matters?
Over the years – you probably have been at a restaurant and someone says “the service is horrible but the food is great.” Poor customer service is simply bad for business. But it is not limited to external customers as internal customer service is just as important. So, why do we still see lots of poor customer service at some government agencies, corporations, non-for-profits, small businesses to list a few? For starters, some folks are not very good at dealing with people so why not start there?
